Course Offerings

Include Blueprint Reading, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Shop Math, Precision Measurement and Lean Principles.

All of these courses and more are offered at a reasonable and low cost. Samples are included below for download so you can see what you're getting ahead of time.

Blue Print Reading

Course Description and Expected Outcomes

This 4.0 hour course covers the basics of print interpretation, the various types and uses of prints (Op sheets, details, assemblies, etc.), where to find information, and how to interpret shapes, lines, callouts, etc.

Upon completion of the course, students will will demonstrate the ability to locate and interpret information such as size, shape, tolerance, material finish and secondary processes of products from a variety of prints.
Demonstrate working knowledge of Title Blocks, Application Blocks, Revision History, B’soM, and customized notes on prints.
Demonstrate an introductory knowledge of both, visualization and interpretation.

Precision Measurement

Course Description and Expected Outcomes

This 4.0 hour course covers the basics of manual measurement with an emphasis on micrometers and calipers. Various other equipment is also covered.

Upon completion of the course, students will will demonstrate the ability to accurately read a mic. to within .0001"
Demonstrate the ability to read a caliper to .001"
Demonstrate an introductory knowledge of several other techniques and methods incorporating the proper use and care of other common shop equipment such as granite plates, manual gages, gage blocks, etc.

Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing

Course Description and Expected Outcomes

This 2.0 hour course covers the basics of GD&T, including tolerance zones, symbols, TIR and MMC concepts

Upon completion of the course, students will will demonstrate the ability to understand the basic concepts of GD&T
Demonstrate working knowledge of gages and their use in inspection
Demonstrate an introductory knowledge of applicable scenarios where GD&T is advantageous.

Shop Math

This course comes in two distinct sessions; Math I and Math II.

Math I covers the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of both fractions and decimals. Percent and ratio are covered as well in this first offering.

Math II requires a working knowledge of the material covered in Math I and further covers shop related material such as common factory formulas, choosing feeds and speeds, estimating material, etc.

I offer 35+ years' worth of manufacturing experience, most of which was spent ruthlessly pursuing operational excellence through lean principles.
